Fast Forward 2009 – Bigger and Better

Tonight I attended a presentation by the Fast Forward Steering Committee where they announced their plans and goals for 2009. I was expecting to run into a few friends there, but to my surprise there was an awesome turnout! It was standing room only as the Steering Committee presented the coming changes for this year.

The committee is planning to enhance Fast Forward by offering more education, volunteer and mentoring opportunities, more social activities (sponsored and un-sponsored) and an annual gala.

They are also looking to increase communications by tapping into social media to supplement their monthly e-news and quarterly printed newsletters. And, to reach to all young professionals throughout the community, not just those in a certain profession or area of town.

To kick-off this new agenda and open up membership to a larger array of young professionals, Fast Forward is changing their membership terms. Previously a young professional could participate in Fast Forward for free if they worked for a business that belonged to the Chamber of Commerce. Starting May 1, 2009, that will no longer be the case. At that time, Fast Forward will start charging annual membership dues. Forty dollars for a young professional that works for a Chamber Member, or $80 if your company is not a Chamber member. Group membership packages are available.

Sound like something you’d like to be a part of ? Consider getting involved and sign up for a Fast Forward Committee: Business Development, Education, Marketing, Social and Philanthropy. For more information, email Fast Forward.

  1. Alissa – Thank you for writing such a great post. As a member of the steering committee I can honestly say that we are excited about the coming year. We’ve done a great deal of research and consulted other Young Professional groups around the country before we suggested making the change. The Chamber is behind our efforts and we’re confident that with the help of our fellow YPs we can make this a great year. We’d love to hear other peoples thoughts and ideas.
